What 'on-air' experience have you had so
far? |
|
| |
My
first experience of radio was as a
weather forecaster on Purbeck Summertime
Radio in the mid 1990's. I then went on
to be a co-presenter for 'Good Morning
Bournemouth' on Hope FM in 1998. I was
given my own show a few years later and
'All Woman' was born! I am pleased that
over the last three years we have built
up a strong audience and I have been
privileged to interview a variety of
different guests. |
|
| |
I am
currently producing features for Woman's
Hour on Radio Four and am very much
enjoying working as a freelancer on this
great radio programme. |
|
| |
I
have also been involved in a number of
outside broadcasts and roadshows,
including presenting for Premier Radio
during 'Harvest Live'. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Who have you interviewed? |
|
| |
I
have enjoyed interviews with many
celebrities including: |
|
| |
Sir
Bob Geldoff, Jeremy Vine from Radio Two,
Wend Craig,
The Right Honourable Ann Widdecombe MP,
Aled Jones,
Fiona Castle (widow of the late Roy
Castle),
Billy Graham's Daughter, Anne Graham
Lotz,
Cameron, winner of Big Brother,
Katrina from Katrina And The Waves (Winner of Eurovision Song Contest),
Katherine Jenkins, Uri Geller, Edwina
Currie, Faith Brown. |
|
| |
As
well as interviewing the famous I love
talking to ordinary people, because many
of them have an extraordinary story to
tell. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
What do you enjoy about interviewing? |
|
| |
That's a good question. I love meeting
people and hearing their stories.
Everyone is different and as I've already
mentioned, everyone has a story to tell.
When Im interviewing I give the
interviewee my undivided attention and
its great making people feel special. My
guests have told me that I have
succeeded in creating a relaxed,
informal atmosphere during their
interview and I enjoy putting people at
ease. I relish in talking to people
about emotional or difficult subjects
and getting interviewee's to ' open up'.
I think my strength lies in getting
people to talk about the things that
really matter! |

Is
it difficult running the All Woman Show? |
|
| |
I
used to run the show on my own, so life
got frantic choosing the music,
interviewing the guests and answering
all those phone calls from listeners!
All Woman's phone line has now got so
busy that I am fortunate enough to have
a researcher with me in the studio to
receive phone calls and the emails that
come in from women... and believe it or
not... guys too! |
|
| |
|
|
| |
What did you do before presenting? |
|
| |
I
have been involved in sales and
marketing roles throughout my working
life. In my early 20's I worked for an
exhibition company in London, selling
exhibition space and went on to become
Project Manager for a major
Communications Show based in the
capital. In 1990 I set up a Home
Improvement Company and built up a
successful business with my main role
being that of Sales and Marketing
Director. It has been eight years now
since I discovered that my real passion
was that of radio presenting and I am
able to use my communication skills and
past business experience to full
benefit. |
